Chemistry VR
Making chemistry something you can handle.
Lead development for a Quest learning experience where students manipulate atoms, build molecules and explore reactions.

01Leading the Unity work
I led development of Chemistry VR, working in Unity and C# with XR Interaction Toolkit. My contribution included rendering and physics optimization, alongside collaboration with educators on the learning experience.
The application is a team project. OCTAV credits two VR developers, two artists and a project manager for the published June–August 2024 phase.
02Atoms, molecules and reactions
Students can move atoms, assemble molecular structures and view reactions in a three-dimensional lab. The experience combines direct interaction with visual explanations of chemistry concepts.
Educator collaboration helped connect the interactions to the material being taught. My work focused on the Unity implementation and how the experience responds on standalone hardware.
03Rendering and physics on Quest
I worked on rendering and physics optimization for the standalone headset. In an interactive lab, both the visual scene and the behaviour of manipulated objects contribute to the experience.
The result is a hands-on educational VR application, with the software, visual assets and educational input brought together by the project team.
